3 Lesson Plan Assignment Use “Ontario Curriculum – (Grades 1-8) Health & Physical Education to select grade (1-4) and topic Keep topic specific to 1 aspect (KISS!) Use model of your choice to develop lesson plan Include model description, some form of assessment, planning, implementation steps, & evaluation, directions for instructor, time allotments, examples of any worksheets or tests etc… (See Assignments in Blackboard)

5 Assessment Target Group Age – lifespan & learning characteristics? Readiness for lesson? Multicultural issues? Socio-economic status? Disabilities? Other?

6 Assessment Request for teaching What needs to be learned? Why must it be learned now? Time? What is the expected general outcome of the learning? How will it affect the organization/ community & learners? What type of learning (cognitive/knowledge, psychomotor skill, affective/attitude) is it? How will learning be measured?

7 Assessment Environment Classroom management? Materials (hardware/software) available? Room orientation /set-up /movement?

8 Planning Overall goals (aims) of Health Promotion Preventive Education: Instill self-awareness & responsibility Encourage decision making about health issues Enable students to develop appropriate skills to prevent disease or injury Instill positive values & attitudes about health to ensure lifelong learning

9 Planning Goals vs. Objectives? Objectives: Conditions – how? Behaviour – learning domain (cognitive, affective or psychomotor)? Criteria – how much?
