2 Course Purpose n Introduce you to the history, structure and activities of the American Red Cross n Prepare you to teach Red Cross courses to diverse populations n Teach you the policies and procedures of the American Red Cross to ensure course consistency, quality and appropriate reporting

3 Course Objectives  Identify lines of service in the American Red Cross  Describe qualities or characteristics of Red Cross heroes and relate them to concepts of volunteerism and community involvement  Identify key chapter priorities

4 Course Objectives  Identify appropriate teaching methods and facilitation skills used in Red Cross courses  Describe ways an instructor can respond to individual and group learning needs  Recognize standard processes in Red Cross courses for assessing participant progress

5 Course Objectives  Respond appropriately to a specific learner concern  Identify ways the Red Cross ensures quality and consistency in course delivery  Articulate how you can serve your community

6 The Red Cross Mission n The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
