Founding Fathers Four of the founding father are Ben Franklin, George Washington, John Adams, and John Jay. Ben Franklin invented the lighting rod bifocals, the Franklin Stove, a carriage odometer, and the glass armoniaca. George Washington was the first president of the United States. John Adams was the first vice-president, and the second president of the United States. John Jay was the president of the Continental Congress.

New England Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Middle Colonies New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware Southern Colonies Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia

Slavery Slavery came to America so the people who owned plantations could have people to work on the farms and they didn’t have to pay them. The South became most dependent on slavery because the south had the most plantations and they needed workers.

Jobs in Colonial Times Cooper: Creator of casks for everything from wine to gunpowder. Blacksmith: Creator of hardware for homes and tools for fellow tradesmen. Gardener: fine gardens, tools, plants, and colonial techniques.

Fifers and drummers were an important part of 18th century history.

In 18th century the children played board games, puzzles, cards, rolling hoops, and walking on stilts.

Shelter and Houses Poor peoples houses: The poor had 1 room, and everything was done in this room. Middle class peoples houses: The middle class has 1 to 2 rooms an attic and a keeping room Rich peoples Houses: The rich lived on large plantations or English mansions

Furnishings & Food Furnishings The furnishing included panties, a table, and a fireplace. Food If you lived by the sea you would eat lobster, and you lived inland you would eat rabbit and squirrels. Everyone ate corn.
