3 The Founding Fathers  John Adams was the second president of the United States.  Thomas Jefferson became United States minister to France.  George Washington was the first president of the United States.  Benjamin Franklin was and author, and he invented the lightning rod.

4 The 3 Regions  The New England colonies were Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.  The Middle colonies are New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.  The Southern colonies are Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia.

5 What Made Them Unique  The New England colony was dominated by the Puritans.  The Middle colony was known as the “Breadbasket” colonies.  The Southern colony gets to enjoy warm summers and mild winters.

6 Jobs in the Colonial Times  Basket makers made beautiful baskets to carry loads.  Blacksmiths were crafters of hardware for homes.  Tailors were cutters and creators of bespoke suits.

7 Tools used in The Colonial Times  People used tools for lots of different things. Some tools that people used were compasses, hammers, and saws for many different jobs.

8 Literature and Music  To make music, some people used drums, fifes, and many more!  Some of the songs they would sing were “Joy To The World” “Arlington” and “Amazing Grace”

9 Crafts and Games  Some of of the games people would play were cards, puzzles, and different board games.

10 Houses in the colonial times  The houses in the colonial times looked a lot more different then they do now. They were small houses. Also, some people had farms.

11 Furnishings and Clothing  Some things that the women wore were dresses, gowns, and wigs.  Some things that the men wore were suits, a waist coat, and breeches.  Some houses look old  Some houses look new

12 Education and Food  You could only get education if you could afford it. If you could afford it, some of the things you would learn to do was sewing, and mending clothes.  Three types of food from the colonial times was peanut soup, shepherds pie, and tidewater chili.
