3 Federal fort in South Carolina Confederate States attack on April 12, 1861 After 34 hours of bombardment the Union forces under Robert Anderson surrender No casualties, but this begins the war that many knew was brewing for some time Was Lincoln’s actions in resupplying the fort an innocent action, or a means of sparking a conflict with the South?

5 Before the war is superintendant of West Point in New York Doesn’t agree with slavery, but joins the Confederate States because his home state of Virginia has seceded Most experienced general in both the North and the South Do you think there are other soldiers like Lee that didn’t believe in slavery but fought for the Confederates?
