1 Due to over population in the east, a failing economy in Europe, and cheap retail in west, the Westward Movement began sparking a revolution in the National economy.

3 Jacksonian era and literature influenced the majority of Americans who were under thirty Agriculture benefitted as did fur trapping The beautiful and unbridled nature of America was admired

4 Ecological Imperialism ravaged the land and ruined many areas of the west Life was extremely harsh and many died in their journey to new land and over population was a problem as many people multiplied at an amazing rate Indians lost their land, attacked westerners and many were killed

5 The Westward Movement caused a large opening in cheap American land. Many Europeans came to America in search of this new land due to the current European hardship. However, Americans responded in antiforeignism towards many European immigrants. “Americans must rule America” -American Party

6 Because of the Westward movement, an industrialization took over America’s economy. This then opened many new factories and job. These jobs were low paying however they spend up America’s economy and help intertwine American Business.

7 Women sped up the production of factories Opened up new opportunities to women in the workplace

8 Wages were extremely low for women, compared to other workers. Sexism was still apparent and even increased as women took male jobs

9 Westward Movement caused farmers to cultivate more land John Deere invented the steel plow in 1837, and Cyrus McCormick created the mechanical reaper in 1834 Supported the growth of cash crops

10 Allowed most farmers to become wealthy, but debt followed for some Western agriculture almost became more profitable than the Southern economy People in the West wanted to transport this system across the country, but lacked a transportation system

11 A huge expansion in the field of transportation, with new inventions fueling it Trains (iron horse), cables, clipper boats and pony riders were some of the most important Bound the unions economy and unified the country further

12 Because of the transportation revolution, this system of one large economy was created Replaced the existing sectional economy
