There are three spellings for the regular simple past in affirmative statements: d

4. Grammar Notes
Use did not + base form of the verb in negative statements.
We did not stay at the hotel.
Use didn’t for negative statements in speaking or informal writing.
We didn’t stay at a hotel.

The verb form is the same for all of the subject pronouns
I visited Seoul.
You visited Cincinnati.
She visited Mexico City.
He visited Tokyo.
It visited Melbourne.
We visited Dubai.
They visited Bogota.

6. Grammar Notes
Time markers usually come at the beginning or end of a sentence.
Yesterday I studied.
I studied yesterday.
You can use yesterday alone. You can also use it before morning, afternoon, or evening.
I visited my friends yesterday.
I visited my friends yesterday evening.
This is just more specific on the time.

7. Grammar Notes Use ago after a length of time.
I started this class a month ago.
Use last before words like night, week, or year.
I arrived here last month.
