6 Energy & Utilities Energy security: Having assured access to reliable supplies of energy and the ability to protect and deliver sufficient energy to meet mission essential requirements (NDAA FY12) Renewable Energy Program Office (REPO): renewable energy production and procurement –Large-scale renewable systems provide long-term price stability and diversify power supply –Small-scale renewable projects reduce grid demand Reducing energy consumption –Energy efficiency projects improve existing facility energy use –Sustainability standards are integrated into new construction criteria Investing in utilities infrastructure –Infrastructure improvements can increase grid reliability and reduce line losses –Industrial and building control systems can provide demand response and mission assurance capabilities

8 Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC) Expeditionary Equipment As the Navy's sole warfare center focused on facilities and expeditionary forces, the command conducts a wide range of research and development efforts in shore infrastructure, ocean facilities, energy, the environment, and land based Navy forces; performs specialty facilities construction and repair; and acquires and supports expeditionary equipment.
