8 Dress Code  Skin is not in  Sagging is unprofessional  No underwear showing (guys or girls)  Hats outside of the classroom are ok  Wallet chains/chains longer than 12 inches  All bandannas, scarves, doo-rags, hoods–all head coverings are considered hats  Girls–tank tops, low cut, tube tops, pajamas tops or bottoms  Boys–muscle shirts, pajama pants

9 Gum and trash  The campus belongs to everyone–take pride in it!  Gum is forbidden on campus  Trash in desks is unsightly–use the trash can  Pick up trash–yours, mine, or otherwise  “It isn’t mine.” or “I didn’t do it.” are not acceptable statements

10 Workplace environment  School is your full-time job–take it seriously  Be aware of your volume level  Display mature behavior Independent thinking, taking responsibility for your actions, think then react  Treat others with respect  Do your best in everything you do  Seek help when you need it  Make every day count

11 No bells  Get a watch (NOT your cell phone)  Watch the clock  Listen to adults  Tardy is tardy – one second or one minute  Being on time is your responsibility

12 Shared campus  WHS Annex shares classrooms  Quiet during passing periods  Quiet during lunch  Mondays, Minimum Days have the same passing periods  IGCG bathrooms and Annex bathrooms

13 Tracking Infractions  Each time you earn an infraction for Cell Phones/Electronics/Gum/Dress Code  Referrals/suspension Food/Drink/Dress/Tardy/Bathroom it will be entered into a database  Teacher discretion  Behavior trends will be dealt with immediately Support room  Single period/ or all day in West High Support room

14 10 minute restroom exception  Students will not be permitted to use the restrooms during the first 10 minutes or last 10 minutes of the period  Before school, during break, during lunch, after school

15 Late Night Thursday  3:30-5:30 MUST be in by 3:30  Sign in and out Have a ride arranged ahead of time  Working environment Not working? Sent home  Computers available  Make-up testing time if pre-arranged

18 Homework  High school classes typically have homework every night  Expect to spend at least 30 minutes per day for each class completing homework and studying  Doing your homework every day is the best way to pass a class  Turn in homework ON TIME

19 Finals  Each class will have a final exam  Semester grades are made of 2 quarter grades and a final exam Ex. Q1 + Q2 +Final = Semester 1 Grade  The final exam will comprise a substantial portion of your semester grade, 20% for example

23 Amount of Reading  Reading is an important part of each of your classes  Expect to read 100 or more pages per week  Falling behind on your reading will quickly bring your grade down  Have your SSR book with you at all times *Use all available class time for school work*

39 AUA  AUA – what is it?  The rules that you have to follow to use technology at school  Violating the AUA can result in your privileges being revoked – not able to use the computers Consequences can be suspensions and loss of computer use for the quarter

40 Computers in the commons  Laptops in Conference Room B, off of the Commons  Managed by student volunteers earning Community Service hours  Open during lunch and on Late Night Thursdays

41 Word, Excel, PowerPoint  Standard Microsoft Office Programs  Word is used to create word processed documents  Excel is used to create spreadsheets and perform calculations  PowerPoint is used to create presentations

42 Care of computers  These machines are not yours – take care of them Repaired or replaced at your expense  Food and drink near any computer is forbidden Including lunch, before and after school  Report any problems to your teacher immediately

45 PowerPoint Project  You and your partner will create a short PowerPoint presentation to share with all students on Wednesday, August 9 th.  The purpose of this project is to introduce your partner to the large group. Be creative and have fun!  Meet the requirements listed on the following slide.  Review the rubric document to see how your presentation will be graded.
