2 We just came back from Oz. Here are some facts. Australia is the largest island. Children in the outback have school from a radio. Ayers rock is a huge rock located in central Australia. The outback is in central Australia and covers most of Australia. The Aussies mine opals.

3 Australian map facts The Indian and Pacific oceans border Australia. The capital of Tasmania is Hobart. The capital of Australia is Canberra.

4 Flag and Facts The large star stands for the six states and two territories. The name of Australia’s flag is ;The Common Wealth Blue Ensign. The Union Jack is in the upper left hand corner.

5 Aborigines and Facts Aborigines were the first people to come to Australia. They have lived there for over 40,000 years. They call the creation;The dream time.

6 Place to Visit Our place to visit is Sydney. It is located in New South Wales. Here are some facts about Sydney. Sydney is the largest city in Australia. There population is 3,623,600. The temperature is usually 57 degrees F.

7 Rock Art Rock art is the oldest kind of art. Many aboriginal rock pictures have Mimi spirits on them. Aborigines believe that the Mimi’s left there pictures on rocks.

8 Bark Art Bark art is a type of aboriginal art done on a eucalyptus tree. Most bark art is done in an X-ray style.

9 Dot Art Dot art is a style of art done by the aborigines. The pictures are like looking at a map of the story. This style of art uses repeated dot and icons to tell a dream time story.

10 Animal Our animal that we learned about is a koala. The only place you can find it in Australia. It climbs to move. It eats eucalyptus leaves. The koala is known as the Australian bear.

11 Famous Aussies Margaret Court was a pro at tennis in Australia. William Dampier British explorer. Mary Gilmore was the first female member of Australia work Union.
