4 Midmarket Technology Trends Supporting a distributed, mobile workforce
87% of business leaders believe collaboration improves productivity 40% of information workers work remotely Employee-owned devices are standard business equipment Workforce Secure BYOD Virtualization / Infrastructure optimization IT Trends Limited IT staff Minimize exposure to risk Avoid complexity in applications, operations IT Support Two out of five US information workers work outside of the office regularly or occasionally. (Forrsights Workforce Employee Survey, Q2 2012) These workers need to be enabled with communications that are portable, transparent and fully featured or worker efficiency and corporate collaboration are greatly diminished. Arguably, it is only the availability of high-quality mobile devices and UC that has allowed companies to operate on such a virtual basis. The second major driver for the extension of UC is the widespread adoption of smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices in the workplace. These are rapidly becoming standard business equipment. Research has shown that there is very little difference in the desire to enhance and extend mobile infrastructure and capabilities across firm sizes. Over 40% of both enterprise and SMB organizations shared the top four priorities, to extend internal systems for mobile access, to implement or improve mobile security, to support more connected mobile handheld devices or smartphones, and to support touchscreen tablets or slates.

5 Market Trends Where your Peers and Competitors plan to spend
Buyer Priorities 500-1,500 Employees Over next 18 Months Third-party analysts are in resounding agreement that buyers are focused on solutions first, technologies second. This goes hand-in-hand with a trend in which LOB controls more and more of IT spend, presently controlling over 60% directly. The biggest markets are in Networking, Support and Services, but the buyers are focused on Contact Centers, Telephony, UC, Mobility and Conferencing. Those are the solutions that will drive purchase decisions over the next 18 months, and those are Avaya’s core market strengths. In particular, some 45% of firms of 1,000 to 1499 are evaluating CC solutions now or in the next 18 months. Some 20% of firms from 500 to 999 are doing the same. Firms focused on these solutions are not only the best chance for sales of those products, but also present the best chance to pull through revenue from Networking, Support and Services, which will come along as needed to support the Buyer’s goals. 11 The Enabled Office Worker

12 The Enabled Office Worker Business Impacts and Stats
Did you know that… 69% of people who call a business will hang up rather than leave a message(1) 40-50% of cellular calls are made and received while the user is in the office and in range of Wifi 60% of devices reported by information workers are used for both work and personal purposes Receptionist can easily connect customers to remote sales rep Stay connected at the desk, on the sales floor, in the warehouse Embed communications in the applications you already have 1 (Web Wise Business, BT Research) 2 (AMI-Partners)

13 Take your communication to the next level A More Productive Office
Just because you are in the office, doesn’t mean you have less demanding communication needs. Customers reach the right person on the first try Employees spend less time searching for numbers The conference room becomes more productive The Enabled Office Worker

14 The Enabled Office Worker Typical Scenarios
Receptionist People Manager “Connecting People” “Build better disbursed teams” Coco Life Cocolife’s contact centre is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm, five days per week. However, the company needs to be able to field calls around the clock. Consequently, Cocolife adopted Avaya IP Office’s ‘follow me’ feature, which enables these customers to talk to specially assigned employees over the phone outside of normal contact center opening hours. Thomas Electronics The organization also rolled out the Avaya one-X Portal and Avaya IP Office Softphone tools that enable mobile staff to make and receive calls using their laptops when they are on the road. Sales Floor Associate Conference Room “Consult an expert” “Better decision making”

15 How an Enabled Office Worker Works
Embed communications within Outlook, Lync, and Salesforce.com Receptionists take advantage of point and click call handling OmniSound™ technology delivers optimal audio clarity The browser-based applications included in the IP Office user solutions for Office Worker, Tele-worker and Power User enable any staff member with it to work from home as if in the office. Think of all the unavoidable hurdles employees face in their everyday lives that prevent them from physically getting to the office … sick child or parent, inclimate weather, car trouble, home issues, etc. Now imagine a scenario where they don’t have to be stressed to get to the office and can instead turn up their browser and be connected as if in the office. The browser allows them to turn their home or cell phone to their office phone, access the corporate directory, set up conference calls, get voic – even record calls. They don’t get stressed or lose time – you don’t lose the productivity. (Note: Assuming a worker is paid $40k annual salary – one day of enablement will pay for the license. On average, most employees have 3 or more unexpected absences per year.) Click on the You Tube video for an animated scenario of the Office Worker solution. Quickly set up and control conference calls via web browser How an Enabled Office Worker Works

16 The Office Away From The Office

17 The Office Away From The Office Business Impacts and Stats
Did you know that… On average, 37% of executives’ work weeks are spent away from their primary work location. 40% of US information workers work outside of the office regularly or occasionally. 59% of midmarket companies have reduced or planned to reduce office space because flexible/remote workers need fewer desks Use your office number instead of a personal phone number Easily conduct conference calls with the click of a mouse No hardware or software installation required

18 Work as if you are in the office
Your Office, Anywhere Your location won’t slow down business – turn your iPad, PC, mobile or home phone into an office extension Keeps employees off dangerous roads during storms. Trade commute times for productivity Recover days of lost productivity per person, per year. A simple thing like ENABLING staff to work from home can make all the difference in the world. Your people are likely your biggest investment and with a very small investment you can ensure that you get the maximum in productivity from them. Whether it’s whether related or a sick child, sick parent or just some personal emergency, every employee will have several days each year when they cannot physically make it to the office. When that happens you lose productivity and results are impacted. By enabling them to work anywhere as if in the office, you eliminate a large part of that risk. Our own study showed that this costs small businesses between $20k and $50k per year in lost productivity. The Office Away From The Office
