2 What to do When There’s an Emergency?

3 Possible Classroom Crises and the Response Crisis Fire alarm, earthquake, structural damage to building, toxic situation inside building Bioterrorism, kidnapping, hostile intruder on campus, gun on campus, gunshots outside campus, fugitive pursuit in area Neighborhood disturbances, likely student altercations, toxic / unsafe health conditions in surrounding area Response EVACUATION LOCK DOWN HEIGHTENED SECURITY

4 Classroom Crisis Commands (Teacher/Leader Responsibility) EVACUATION : Take attendance folder (your hard copy attendance) and emergency folder. Follow evacuation route to the meeting point. (Outdoor basketball court on Broadway campus) Once outside take attendance again using rosters found in emergency folder. Mark all missing students/unaccounted students on separate sheet titled emergency roster. This will be picked up by assigned staff. Keep students seated, quiet, and grouped by class. If all students are accounted for, signal with GREEN CARD. If students cannot be accounted for, signal with RED CARD.

5 Student Responsibility During Evacuation Follow all teacher/leader directions immediately Report any injuries to the teacher/leader Line up single file from the door (as close to alphabetical order by last name as possible) Quickly and quietly follow evacuation route to meeting point Sit quietly with your class at the meeting point until dismissed by teacher
