We need renewable alternatives to oil-derived feedstocks 2.Value Waste Stop one-way uses of waste, process by-products and residues by switching to waste valorising strategies instead of waste management strategies. 3.Consider closed-loop manufacturing Aim to improve resource efficiency by using concepts such as industrial symbiosis to reduce consumption of virgin resources.

7. 4.Target Process Cost-effectiveness. Aim for maximum cost efficiency for a given process by using waste as a feedstock for the production of marketable high-value bio-chemicals, bio-fuels and bio- materials from waste. 5.Favour Clean and Green Technologies Aim to produce goods without hazardous inputs or impacts on our environment. The New OPEC This project has captured the attention of: various industries (i.e. food, HPC), several media (BBC, national newspapers, ACS) & has been selected by the Ellen McArthur Foundation to serve as educational material for teenagers. Integrated microwave biorefinery 50% juice 50% waste 31.2 million T/y of citrus fruits are processed globally yielding 15.6 million T of citrus peel waste
