Laceration Cuts caused by a sharp object slicing through layers of the skin.

Puncture Small but deep hole caused by a sharp and narrow object that pierces the skin.

Avulsion When skin or tissue is partly or completely torn away.

First-degree burns Only involve the outer layer of skin.

Second-degree burns Involve the epidermis and the underlying layers of the skin.

Third degree burns Involve all layers of the skin and may penetrate the underlying tissues.
