6 Recreation Many South Africans love sports, and the country's mild climate enables people to spend much of their leisure time outdoors. Soccer is the country’s most popular sport. Other sports include, Tennis, bowls (lawn bowling), golf, field hockey, boxing, athletics (track and field), and water sports.

7 Main Religion of Region About 80% of south Africa’s people are Christians. About 15 million of South Africa’s people belong to independent churches which mix Christianity and traditional African believe. Most African’s belong to churches known as the Dutch Reformed churches. They have nearly 3 million members. Other Christian churches in South Africa include, Anglican, Roman Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational, and Lutheran churches. The reason there is such an extensive number of different religions/ types of religions, in the Southern part of Africa alone is from all of the different people from other countries that have invaded and spread the different religions through the region.

8 India has thousands of languages but the national language is Hindi After the Indian independence, the government argued that national unity would be best for the country. Main Language of India

9 Government Religious law governs family life in every Middle Eastern country except Turkey. In Saudi Arabia, women are required to wear a veil in public that covers their faces. In Iran, women must cover their heads. In other countries, women can choose whether to wear a veil or head cover.

10 So where do we go from here? Read: South America ◦Mark 3 aspects of culture.  Be ready to share with the class. Also look for reasons why those cultural aspects exist.

11 Now with a partner … Read the short description of the region you were given. Create a poster that includes the following….. ◦At least 3 aspects of that region’s culture ◦An explanation of the roots of those aspects of culture. ◦A visual representation (drawing) to illustrate the information.
