19 19 SHRM CERTIFICATION COMPETENCY MODEL

20 20 SHRM CERTIFICATION TIMELINE  HR professionals with existing generalist certifications (PHR®, SPHR®, GPHR®, HRMP®, HRBP®, and other recognized HR generalist certifications*) will be eligible for the new SHRM certification on January 1, 2015 by taking an online tutorial.  All HR professionals seeking certification for the first time can apply for the exam beginning January 1, 2015. The first exam window of the new certification is tentatively scheduled for May 2015. *PHR, SPHR, GPHR, HRMP and HRBP are registered trademarks of the HR Certification Institute and are not SHRM certifications.

21 21 SHRM CERTIFICATION FOR CERTIFIED HR PROFESSIONALS  Beginning January 1, 2015, if you are certified with existing HR generalist credentials, and are in good standing, you are eligible for SHRM’s new certification – at no cost – by completing the following by December 31, 2015: o Document that your current certification is in good standing; o Sign the SHRM Code of Ethics; o Complete a brief online tutorial on HR competencies.  Once you go through this process, you will receive the new SHRM credential and will begin a three-year recertification cycle.

22 22 SHRM CERTIFICATION FOR HR PROFESSIONALS CURRENTLY SEEKING CERTIFICATION  If you pass your PHR, SPHR, GPHR, HRMP, HRBP exam, between now and January 31, 2015, you will be eligible to receive the new SHRM credential – at no cost – from January 1-December 31, 2015 by: o Document that your current certification is in good standing; o Sign the SHRM Code of Ethics; o Complete a brief online tutorial on HR competencies.  Once you go through this process, you will receive the new SHRM credential and will begin a three-year recertification cycle.  If you do not pass your exam prior to January 2015 and you purchased the current SHRM Learning System, we will provide the new SHRM Learning System for the new SHRM certification free of charge in preparation for the new assessment.

23 23 SHRM CERTIFICATION SHRM CHAPTERS AND STATE COUNCILS  If you are a chapter or state council in good standing, you can become a preferred provider for the new SHRM certification program free of charge.  We are streamlining the process for awarding recertification credit for your chapter and state council events.  Your SHRM Field Services Director will be contacting you detailing that process as it becomes available.

25 25 SHRM CERTIFICATION INDEPENDENT OVERSIGHT  The SHRM Certification Board – will manage all aspects of the certification program, including the overall development of the exam, eligibility requirements, and issuance of recertification.  Competency based exams – American Society of the Association Executives (ASAE), the Project Management Institution (PMI), and the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA). This is a common best practice in the certification industry and is followed by and accepted under the ISO standard for certifying bodies. SHRM anticipates that we will obtain accreditation of our new certification program from ANSI and/or NCCA.
