2 Read the poem – what do you notice?
Winter Poem once a snowflake fell on my brow and i loved it so much and i kissed it and it was happy and called its cousins and brothers and a web of snow engulfed me then i reached to love them all and i squeezed them and they became a spring rain and i stood perfectly still and was a flower Nikki Giovanni

3 Free Verse Doesn't rhyme No meter
Use of metaphors, similes, personification Image driven Concrete, not abstract Heightened attention to sound Might include alliteration or assonance or other sound elements

4 Free Verse Free verse poetry is a poem that is written without a regular rhyme scheme, meter or form. Poets use free verse poetry, because they want to use the natural rhythm of ordinary language to emphasize the simple beauty of everyday speech.

5 Journal Writing: Look in the mirror. What do you see? Look longer and deeper. What do you see now?

6 Writing Free Verse Poetry
Finding a topic Anything and everything can be the topic of a  free verse lyrical  poem.  The poem can tell a story, describe a person, animal, feeling or object.  They can serious, sad, funny or  educational.  Whatever subject that appeals to the poet can end up in free verse.
