2  Past tense verbs tell about something that happened in the past.  The past could be yesterday, last year, last week, an hour ago.  Usually we add “-ed” to the verb to show past tense:  Yesterday, I helped the teacher.  Last week, I studied for my test.

3  there are some verbs that are past tense and don’t follow the “-ed” rule.  They are special or irregular verbs.
