The Biomes in the Gulf Of Mexico have change due to the oil spill that has occurred. Abiotic components such as water, soil, and air will be effected. Biotic components such as Fish, Plants, or other living things that relay on the ocean for there food source or where there habitat is. The oil spill has really changed there habitat. Which means the biomes in this area will have to have adaptations is there habitat. The climate could also be effected by the oil spill because of evaporation which could cause a big problem.

Due to the oil spill some of the fish, plants or other organisms may have a tough time finding other food sources. This can cause competition with the organisms because they will have less food sources and fight with others to get what they need. Predators will have to maybe prey on something else because there prey might have died of or become extinct. The organisms in the area effected by the oil spill may become contaminated and this means some of the living organisms in the area can change and if they add chemicals to clean up the oil spill this can create an invasive species. The invasive species could cause a problem for the native species in the area, and they cold be taken over especially species like (Smalltooth sawfish is an endangered species and Turtles and the Humpback whale is also endangered and are kept safe by the gulf of Mexico marine life specialists) losing one of these species could have a big impact on marine life in the gulf of Mexico.

Nutrients in the ocean could be reduced due to the oil spill which mean plants and animals that need the nutrients won’t be able to get it which could effect the ecosystem in the area of the gulf of Mexico. Photosynthesis is going to be a big problem because of the oil blocking out the sun and the sun light not being able to get to the plants at the bottom of the ocean floor where all the plants grow and the fish will have to try to adapt with out the plants they relay on.

The gulf of Mexico oil spill has started to bioaccumulate by being pushed by the ocean currents and is making the carbon level even higher in the ocean. With the carbon cycle in effect the oil is being spread all across the ocean. Human activities have had a real effect on our ecosystem the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico s an example of that. Human made chemicals can cause even more problems then solve and could create an invasive species while cleaning up the oil spill. Scientist have tried to find a better way of cleaning up the oil an example would be trapping it in soil. This example has been in effect but turned out that it is ineffective and really has not done anything but create more of a mess. The processes being taken could also create a disturbance to the fish in the ocean and could effect a Keystone Species. A keystone species is the species that is the most meaning full to other animals and this can create an imbalance and could throw of the food web. Now that the chemicals have been released, what ever consumes the chemicals is eaten and that is magnified to an higher level in the food chain which can change the food web itself. After nothing else has worked scientist use Bioremediation which are like fungi, green plants, and enzymes to return the environment back to it’s natural self.

Organisms adapt to changes, Living organisms change as the Abiotic and biotic components in their environment change. The process that makes change possible in living things is called natural selection. Primary succession occurs in area with little or no soil, like bare rock and can over time create soil and a new healthy environment is created. Secondary succession occurs as a result of a disturbance to an area that already has a soil and was once the home of living organisms. Secondary succession occurs much faster than primary succession because soil and nutrient already exist. While primary succession may take hundreds of years to succession may take only decades. Secondary succession often depends on the recovery of existing plants, such as trees, and on species that can rapidly reproduce in new conditions of increased sunlight and open areas. The oil spill in the gulf of Mexico may destroy the already mature environment with the oil killing of important plants, animals and any other living organism.

Humans Influence such as the Gulf of Mexico can cause Contamination threw out the ocean. This contamination can also cause extinction to many fish, birds, or any other living organism around the contaminated area. There is no real way to restore the changed, or extinct species. Habitat is another big issue resulting from our own human influences, the habitat that is lost could also cause a drastic change with the sea life because then what ever is occupying that area will have to move away any the organisms that rely on it are going to have to adapt to another change due to our own faults. Now that we have created a problem we need to keep it a sustained and healthy environment by restoring the environment and keeping it just as it was before the oil spill clean and sustain the same type of clean and healthy environment.

Native species are organisms that have naturally inhabit an area and have occupied in for a long time. Invasive species are organisms that can take over the habitat of a native species or inhabit their body, and weakens immune system. Invasive species often have high reproduction rates, aggressive competitors and lack natural predators in new habitats. Introduced or foreign are introduced into an ecosystem and are usually beneficial or harmless.
