Grade Level: 2nd Grade Summary: The purpose of this power point is to have the students learn and depict the different continents, hemispheres, and major oceans. Learning Objective: Given websites that contain information and pictures on the globe students will need to identify the correct continent, hemisphere, and ocean in the questions within the power point with 100% accuracy. Standard: 2.14 construct a globe depicting the four hemispheres, seven continents, and five oceans.

3 Prime Meridian and Equator:
The equator is 0 degree latitude. This imaginary line, which runs through parts of South America, Africa, and Asia, is officially the halfway point between the North Pole and the South Pole. The prime meridian is 0 degrees longitude. This imaginary line runs through the United Kingdom, France, Spain, western Africa, and Antarctica.

4 Hemispheres: There are four in total.
Defined as- Either the northern or southern half of the earth as divided by the equator or the eastern or western half as divided by a meridian.
