3 The Jargon hits: when a browser (the visitor) downloads a piece of data from the web page (the text, an image, a video file, etc.) pages: counts just the text, not images, video files, etc. visits: the number of times a person has visited your website for a time (session) unique visitors: the number of different people that have visited your website bandwidth: how many bytes of data was transferred from the server to the visitors duration: how long people spent on your website bounce rate: the percentage of visitors that did not go beyond the first page conversion rate: the ratio of visitors to buyers

4 Good Measures Want lots of unique visitors Want lots of visits per visitor (that means they're returning often) Want lots of page views per visit (they're looking at more than just one or two pages at a time) Want a low bounce rate (people coming to your site immediately finding what they're looking for)

In summary: have something of value that lots of people want that they can only get from your website
