4 George Washington was the 1 st President and the general of the American army. John Adams was the 2 nd president and the 1 st Vice President. Benjamin Franklin was the inventor of the lightning rod, bifocals, and the Franklin Stove Thomas Jefferson was the 3 rd President, the 2 nd Vice President, and the writer of the Declaration of Independence.

5  Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island were the New England colonies.  New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware were the Middle Atlantic colonies.  Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, and Georgia were the Southern colonies

6  The New England Colonies had whaling, fishing, and logging.  The Middle Colonies had agriculture, logging, and shipbuilding.  The Southern Colonies had farming and slavery

7  Blacksmiths made things using steel and iron.  Gunsmiths made guns.  Silversmiths made things using silver.

9  Musical Instruments were the fife, snare drum, and the bass drum

10  Furnishings were wooden and simple.  There were tables, chairs, and basic versions of our furniture.

11  The houses were a lot like houses today but were mostly squares and made out of bricks.  The richer the person, the bigger and fancier the house.

12  Men wore a coat, waistcoat, shirt and more  Women wore a gown, hat, shirt and more

13  The boys learned survival skills  The girls learned how to sew and cook

14  Three kinds of food were collops of salmon, tidewater chili, and corn chowder

15  Slavery started in America when Dutch traders brought slaves  Southern colonies used them  on plantations
