Explain the relationship of the following as they relate to well-being: self-serving bias, self-esteem, locus of control, self-actualization, and reciprocal determinism.

Self-serving bias (2 points)
(Name at least 2 of the following in order to earn the 2 points.) Relationship to well-being – Our readiness to perceive ourselves favorably: Increases the likelihood of remembering favorable events. Decreases the likelihood of remembering unfavorable events. Increases self-esteem, which can lead to a multitude of benefits. Increases positive interpretations of any given event.

Greater self-esteem, which can have a multitude of benefits. Greater helpfulness, which leads to more happiness.

Reciprocal determinism (2 points)

Relationship to well-being –The person-environment interaction affects: The environment one chooses, which in turn shapes an individual. Selection of a positive environment would increase well-being. Interpretation of events. Those with optimistic outlook would be attuned to a favorable interpretation of events, and less attuned to a threatening interpretation of events. How we created situations to which we react. Those with positive dispositions likely enjoy close, supportive friendships, which increases well-being.
