7 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Coping Resources Coping Resources are the critical component that most affects the relationship between stress and satisfaction. The four Coping Resources are Problem-Solving, Communication, Closeness, and Flexibility. The ability to deal directly with the difficult situations you face and make positive changes to resolve them Problem-Solving The ability to share thoughts and feelings with others in order to promote mutual understanding, even under difficult circumstances Communication The degree to which you have developed a supportive social fabric in each area of life Closeness The ability to adapt to changing circumstances in your life and how comfortable you are with unstructured and unpredictable situations Flexibility

8 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Coping & Stress Profile ® Response Form Response form The Coping & Stress Profile ® response form requires the respondent to respond to three different types of questions for the respondent’s personal and work life. The instruction page of the profile alerts them to the three types of questions and their corresponding response keys.

11 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Introduction The profile Introduction explores the role of stress in our lives and how achieving a balance between too much and too little stress can lead to increased satisfaction. The Introduction then explains the purpose of the Coping & Stress Profile ®, how the report is structured, and how to interpret the scores.

12 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Personal Stress The Personal Stress page visually displays the respondent’s personal stress level. It also identifies the respondent’s specific stressors in such categories as marriage and family life, health, and home. The narrative interprets stress scores based on the person’s responses to the profile.

13 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Work Stress The Work Stress page visually displays the respondent’s work stress level. It also identifies the respondent’s specific stressors in such categories as job characteristics, work schedule, and work productivity. The narrative interprets stress scores based on the person’s responses to the profile.

14 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Your Coping Resources It includes a snapshot of the respondent’s strengths or challenges in the four coping resources for both personal and work life. The graph indicates which resources are readily available to the respondent. The Your Coping Resources page of the report describes the four coping resources measured by the report. …and which could be developed further.

15 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Coping Resources The Coping & Stress Profile ® examines in more depth the strengths and growth opportunities in each coping resource for the respondent’s personal and work life. It also provides significant information on how he or she can develop a particular coping resource.

16 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Personal Coping Resources: In Depth Each Coping Resource includes a narrative analysis of the respondent’s ability to use this coping resource in his or her personal life. It restates the items the respondent indicated had a positive impact on his or her ability to use this coping resource. The feedback also includes items that the respondent could develop further to enhance his or her ability to use this coping resource.

17 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Work Coping Resources: In Depth Each Coping Resource includes a narrative analysis of the respondent’s ability to use this coping resource in his or her work life. It restates the items the respondent indicated had a positive impact on his or her ability to use this coping resource. The feedback also includes items that the respondent could develop further to enhance his or her ability to use this coping resource.

18 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Developing Problem-Solving Each Coping Resource includes actionable ways for the respondent to develop that coping resource. There is also space in the report for the respondent to record which techniques he or she would like to use.

19 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training An important aspect of the Coping & Stress Profile ® is its assessment of the respondent’s satisfaction level. Research has found that people higher in satisfaction are not only happier, but also tend to have better self-esteem and fewer physical and emotional problems. Satisfaction

20 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Personal Satisfaction It pinpoints areas in which the respondent felt a sense of fulfillment. The individualized narrative for the respondent’s Personal Satisfaction describes the respondent’s current level of contentment and happiness and examines its impact. It also highlights the areas that might be holding the respondent back.

21 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Work Satisfaction It pinpoints areas in which the respondent felt a sense of fulfillment. The individualized narrative for the respondent’s Work Satisfaction describes the respondent’s current level of contentment and happiness and examines its impact. It also highlights the areas that might be holding the respondent back.

22 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Action Plan Research has shown that there is a relationship between coping resources and satisfaction. Even people with high stress levels report significant satisfaction when they have the coping resources to deal with stress. The Action Plan in the Coping & Stress Profile ® gives the respondent the opportunity to reflect on his or her stress and develop an actionable plan to decrease stress and increase satisfaction.

23 Coping & Stress Profile ® Tele-Training Your Personal and Work Action Plan This allows the respondent to prioritize the daily hassles that need their attention and pinpoint the stressors that they can learn to live with. The Coping & Stress Profile ® includes action-planning pages for both personal and work life. The pages help the respondent to identify which stressors are most prominent in his or her personal and work life.
