1 Red and gold group Excerpt from chapter one: 1) I bought a dozen volumes on banking and credit and investment securities, and they stood on my shelf in red and gold like new money from the mint, promising to unfold the shining secrets that only Midas and Morgan and Maecenas knew. 2) Their house was even more elaborate than I expected, a cheerful Red-and-white Georgian Colonial mansion, overlooking the bay. 3) The front was broken by a line of french windows, glowing now with reflected Gold and wide open to the warm windy afternoon, and Tom Buchannan in riding clothes was standing with his legs apart on the front porch. Excerpt from chapter 4: It was dark now, and as we dipped under a little bridge I put my arm around Jordan’s Golden shoulder and drew her toward me and asked her to dinner.

2 Quote from chapter 1 I bought a dozen volumes on banking and credit and investment securities, and they stood on my shelf in red and gold like new money from the mint, promising to unfold the shining secrets that only Mildas and Morgan and Maecenas knew. What does the color relate to? The color relates to wealth and fame and money. What character does this color relate to? I believe it relates to Gatsby because he is very wealthy and is known by many people. What is the symbolic reference? I believe it symbolizes how Nick can almost taste his fame as he looks at the different volumes about banking and credit and also investment securities.

3 Quote from chapter 8 The touch of a cluster of leaves revolved it slowly, tracing, like the leg of a compass, a thin red circle in the water. What abject does the color relate to? It is related to the leg of a compass. What character does the color relate to? Gatsby. What is the symbolic meaning? It goes into detail about the slow steady flow of the blood through the bullet wound, indicating that life can be easily taken away through lies and also love.

4 Through the entire story so far, what is the central meaning of the color
The central meaning of the color is wealth and loss. I believe this because in the story Gatsby tries so hard to get what he wants, that he dies for it. It also has to do with love, how love and wealth are two things that do not go together. And that love will cause you to do anything and go to your absolute limits.

5 Which character is symbolically represented by your color
I believe that Gatsby is symbolically represented by our color because he goes through a lot it the book. He strives to make Daisy fall in love with him, while he is wealthy and famous. He does things only for her. I believe he could care less about what he has as long as Daisy likes it. His love for Daisy is what kills him. Michael Sanford, Zach Evans
