3 SXU Institutional Self-Study Goals The HLC Evaluation Team will recommend re-accreditation without stipulation. Stronger linkages will be developed between assessment activities and institutional actions that will advance the University’s goal of academic excellence in an environment of continuous improvement. The University community will develop a greater understanding of the inter-connections between the University’s Eight Strategic Directions, our Mission, and our future success. The University community will develop a clear and articulated vision for the new Orland Park Campus, reflecting the University strategic direction for a campus master plan that fosters excellence in teaching and learning at all locations. An appropriate and integrated institutional structure for management and oversight of graduate programs will be developed to advance the University’s strategic vision for academic excellence at all levels.

4 SXU Institutional Self-Study Goals (Cont’d) Informed expansion of the “first year experience” that advances the strategic direction of recruiting talented students who are actively engaged in dynamic learning environments will occur. Greater support for competency in information technology and communication literacy will be integrated into academic and student support services. The University administration and faculty leadership will partner to foster new strategic initiatives for faculty professional development and scholarship. The HLC Evaluation Team assessment report will support admission to the AQIP process. The HLC Evaluation Team will confirm that satisfactory action or policy changes addressing all 1997 NCA Findings and Recommendations have occurred.
