3 Children’s learning needs and strengths can be catered for. Purposes and benefits of using learning centres in your classroom Children need to develop a range of skills that will help them to become independent learners. In particular self-evaluation, peer-evaluation, recording and reporting skills, and choice making. Creating an atmosphere of collaboration. A learning centre reinforces, enriches and extends concepts taught as part of the daily programme. Developing independent working skills, and self- management skills.

12

13 NEW FOLDER DLC

14 Step 2: The Home Page

15 You should always start with a home page… This will be the child’s first port of call. Its purpose is to guide the child through the “pages”. Room 13 Digital Learning Centre

16 Step 3: Creating Pages

17 Design the page with activities you would like the children to do Decide on whether you are going to use an action button or a picture to hyperlink to the activity Save all document pages into your supporting files folder

18

19 Recycling Junior School (Lower Juniors: Year0-2) Junior School (Upper Juniors: Year3-4) Middle School Senior School

20 Step 4: Hyperlinking Action Buttons

21 Go to the slide show tab Go to the action button menu Select the button style and position the button on the page Automatically a command bar comes to select where the button will hyperlink to… you can hyperlink to a website, programme or document. Documents must be in your supporting files folder. You can add sound and video clip footage also in a hyperlink. These files will have to be in you supporting files folder.

22 Save the presentation as a

23 This is most important – so that the DLC will open automatically and you know that the children will not change any information.
