I was volunteering at a non-profit and when their annual general meeting came along, the president of the non-profit introduced me to one of his board members who invited me to her office the next day to meet with her colleague. Her colleague hired me on the spot and I was able to breathe again.” Stories of ITI’s in Alternative Careers

7 David Avella Architect Master’s Degree in Heritage Conservation Building I contacted people through LinkedIn who had my same experience and my same language. It was a good idea because they understood my situation and what was the help I needed. Another idea is trying to find someone with your same profession and language into the companies. I got many good resources from this way. The best idea was to show the potential employer my technical skills so that they knew what I was talking about. Before any interview, I searched the company and I prepared a glossary of possible works to use or some projects developed for the company. This experience put me forward to the skills and networking that I needed to develop my career in Canada I found out I can work as a Daft Person, Project Coordinator, Architectural Technician, Project Manager, Drafter, BIM drawing, 3d drawing technician, CAD technician. I am currently a Rebar Detailer (project coordinator).
