Analyzing: Background questions will be asked from the students. Evaluating: Students will recognise and use conjunctions correctly in the sentences. Creating: Students will write a paragraph by using conjunctions(“and”, “but” and “or”). For this purpose a picture worksheet will be given to the students.

8 Solution to Anticipated Challenges
Solutions There may be unseen holidays which can affect my planning. I will ask the principal to arrange zero period to cover my planning. There may be some students with learning difficulty. Extra support like remedial classes will be arranged.

12 What are conjunctions? A conjunction is a word that is used to connect words, phrases or clauses.

14 This unit deals with the commonest conjunctions
“AND”, “BUT”, and “OR”

15 Use of “AND” You use “and” to link words that are similar. For example
I like spaghetti _____ pizza. I like spaghetti and pizza. “And” is also used to show time sequence. I ate spaghetti for lunch _____ pizza for dinner. I ate spaghetti for lunch and for dinner.

16 Use of “BUT” You use “but” to link words that are different and do not normally go together. For example I like spaghetti ______ I don’t like hamburgers. I like spaghetti but I don’t like hamburgers.

17 Use of “OR” You use “or” to talk about choices. For example
You can eat spaghetti ______ pizza foe dinner. You can eat spaghetti or for dinner.

18 Conjunctions Linking Phrases
You also use conjunctions (and, or and but) link phrases. The phrases in these example are printed in colour. We all like going shopping ___ going to cafes. We all like going shopping and going to cafes. 2. The car is very old ___ still very reliable. The car is very old but still very reliable. 3. Is it quicker to go by train ___ by car? Is it quicker to go by train or by car?

19 Conjunctions With Lists
You use the conjunctions and or or with lists of words. You put a comma between the words and use and or or between the last two words. For example 1. We bought milk eggs cheese____ butter. We bought milk, eggs, cheese and butter. 2. Kathleen didn’t have any paper pens____ pencils. Kathleen didn’t have any paper, pens or pencils.

Are conjunctions naming words?(Yes/No) 3. David and John will go to the theatre.(True/False) 4. Define the term conjunctions. 5. Underline conjunction. Julien ran fast but could not win the race.

22 ASSESSMENT Now students will be divided into smaller groups.
Different picture worksheets will be given to these groups to write a story about 8-10 lines and share it with each other. After that have read them their stories, how meanings are different in the stories written with the conjunctions(and, but, and or).

23 CONCLUSION 21st Century teaching approaches would help my students to achieve higher level of thinking and to gain better knowledge of the subject.
