Unit 7 Project Proposal Fine Art – The Human figure an Portraiture
2
Review Skills I have required So far on the course I have learnt numerous skills including; screen printing, monoprinting, the basics of Photoshop, sculpture, bleach paintings and using a range of media to create different outcomes for different bodies of work. I have gained knowledge of different artists that have helped inspire me to produce some of my work and have learnt how to correctly document each step through my blog and book. The artists I have been looking at are also focused on the human figure and portraiture however, I have learnt to expand my ideas and try new areas away from my chosen pathway. How I can use these skills With the skills I have learnt I can develop further to enhance my work, continuing to use my blog but using it to its full potential, keeping it up to date, continuing with personal and peer critiques, enabling me to develop continuously. The practical skills I have gained will be beneficial as I know that I will use a range of them. For instance my life drawing that has progressed through life drawing classes.

Project Concept My idea and aim The idea of my project is to focus on the human figure and portraiture, taking a look at such artists like Barkley L. Hendricks and incorporating ideas and inspiration into my own work. I intend on focusing on different sections of the human figure from face, torso, arms etc but sectioning these off as each area will be from a different subject. I want the subject to be as different as possible i.e; race, skin colour, size, style etc. Sustainability This idea involves me finding subjects, photographing them, self critiques, making changes if need be, re-evaluating etc. There are certain details that are going to have to be specific and precise for this to make the impact I want. For example, the way the subject looks is highly important, grouping images of people who all look the same is not what I want, I’m looking for diversity and individuality and then showing this through the paintings.

Evaluation Evaluating my ideas I will continue to work in my book and on my blog. This involves constantly sketching up new ideas, changing/editing ideas, notes etc. whilst making sure my blog is constantly up to date, using images from my book, work in progress and artist research. This will continue throughout the project to show how I got from my idea and concept to a final finished piece. This process helps me progress in my work as I will be annotating each update with self critique, peer critique, development and reflective analysis. This allows me to constantly develop my work, with each step, changing ideas and improving them.
