4 Why is Social Important to BMC? 1.Helps make employees and executives accessible to customers, press, and analysts (worth up to $1B in revenue annually!) 2.Establishes thought leadership, increasing exposure to BMC content assets and increasing BMC’s perception in the industry. 3.Walk the walk. We can’t be promoting a MyIT, mobile-social platforms for products if we are barely social as a company. 4.Sales, lead generation, and the new social customer.

5 1. Sign Up For Accounts If you’re not yet active: -Primary for BMC: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook -Secondary: Google+, YouTube, SlideShare -Not Active: Instagram, Pinterest, Vine

6 Signing Up For LinkedIn 1.Click on https://www.linkedin.com/reg/joinhttps://www.linkedin.com/reg/join 2.Complete form fields (note: must use your true name when creating a profile) 3.Click “Join LinkedIn” 4.Upload a professional photo 5.Complete form fields as prompted 6.Connect with email address to connect with personal contacts

7 Signing Up For Twitter 1.Click on https://twitter.com/signuphttps://twitter.com/signup 2.Complete form fields (note: your username will also be your @username on Twitter) 3.Click “Create my account” 4.Follow accounts of interest and BMC Software accounts 5.Upload a profile photo and header image 6.Connect with email (or mobile phone contacts) to find connections.

8 You Don’t Have To Be An Expert… Definition: Following or lurking social hubs to see what conversations, information, and opinions are being shared Definition: Replying, answering or injecting into social engagement opportunities Definition: Creating compelling content and generating social activity from it. (requires training) Definition: Liking, sharing, and retweeting existing social content to your audiences. Follow and fill the social sphere Social Sphere Definition: Knowing the wins and losses and how to report up. Measure Monitor Amplify Respond Lead

9 2. Optimize Profiles Whether you’ve been a member for years, or just created an account, optimizing your social media profiles helps to: -Appear in more searches -Increase connections, engagement and influebce -Offer a current, accurate representation of you -Connect with people “IRL”

10 Regularly one of the top 2-3 search results for your name.

11 Setting up the Perfect LinkedIn Profile 1. Your name should only contain your name 2. Catchy headline with keywords you want to be found for 3. Professional Photo 4. Reach at least 501 connections for social proof 5. Add all relevant contact info. 6. Customize website names with terms that attract your target 7. Customize your profile URL

12 Setting up the Perfect LinkedIn Profile 10. Add a video or slideshow using LinkedIn’s new multimedia feature. 8. Use keywords you want to be found for throughout your summary and profile 9. Write in the first person – this is not your resume or CV. 11. Keyword load your Skills with terms you want to be endorsed for. Use BMC terms when available.

13 Setting up the Perfect Twitter Profile 1. Interesting header image 2. Photo, clear, centered. 3. Complete Name, Bio 4. Mentions BMC Role 5. Location listed 6. Posts regularly

14 3. Develop Your Social Media Voice Your social media voice is your persona on social media. Help develop and define your objectives on social, and that will help to create your social media voice. -Sales: helpful, informative, expert -Customer Service: helpful, supportive -Thought Leader: informative industry expert -Recruiting: Interested, friendly, helpful.

15 Padmasree, CTO of Cisco, has an active and popular Twitter account 5x1 principle – for every single piece of Cisco content published she Tweets non- Cisco content (at least) 5 times Her account is professional but filled with personality @Padmasree

16 4. Expand Your Usage Many people started Twitter and LinkedIn accounts and have not used them actively. Make 2015 a year where you’re more active and can take better advantage of networking. -Posting Regularly: “Tweet when you eat” -Utilizing more platform areas: i.e. LinkedIn Groups

18 5. Expand Your Connections Posting to few followers has little impact. Use LinkedIn and Twitter’s “find connections” features to: -Expand your network -Connect with people you actually know -Make it a more engaging place

19 Find LinkedIn Connections Use the “People You May Know” Panel on your Home Feed Screen Add your email address to search for personal contacts on LinkedIn.

20 Find Twitter Connections From Discover tab, click on “Who to follow” to find Twitter users similar to ones you currently follow. From Discover Tab, click on “Find Friends” to connect email address. From mobile app, import contacts to find friends.

21 6. Follow BMC BMC has at least 400 employees active on social, as well as around two-dozen branded product and LOB accounts. Find and follow these accounts to stay up to date on the latest announcements, launches, and updates from BMC.

Expand Your Engagement Once you’ve expanded your network and have tapped into BMC on social, you should expand your engagement. -Share BMC Blog and Communities posts -Share third-party, analyst, press mentions of BMC -Share relevant third-party industry posts -Become an industry influencer. -Contribute to conversations around the industry.

24 Sharing Useful Content on LinkedIn Like, Comment, or Share posts on the BMC Software LinkedIn Company Page. Share blog posts from bmc.com/blogs, click on the LinkedIn Button to share to your LinkedIn Feed, groups, or send to individuals

25 Sharing Useful Content on Twitter Reply or Retweet from @bmcsoftware www.twitter.com/bmcsoftware Share blog posts from bmc.com/blogs, click on the Twitter Button to Tweet.

26 8. Set Up Your Apps Head over to the AppStore or Google Play Store and download Social Media apps. Nearly all social networks have an app: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest and others. It’s the easiest way to remember to be social and stay active.
