How does bidding work? ● Second-years get 2500 bid points after completing Interview Skills I & II ● Bid deadline for each schedule is 9:00 AM three business days after the invitation list is received (coincides with the accept/decline deadline for invitations). ● You must bid at least 1 point … and you may win with 1 bid point! ● Review past Bid Histories on COIN>Tools>Recruiting>On Campus Recruiting Overview or in the Career Management Library

51 Find “Bid Deadlines” on Homepage Click “Place Bid” to submit your bid for the interview slot.

52 Submit Bid Points Choose a resume the employer will see if you win a slot; then type in the number of points you want to bid and click “submit bid” You can adjust/withdraw your bid until the Bid Deadline

53 Winning Bids ● If company’s invitation list isn’t in yet but the bid is due, bid for the open schedule – we’ll refund points if you are invited ● Winners are charged lowest clearing price ● You will receive an email confirming that your bid was successful ● You have the same standing as an invitee – you can swap or change your interview time, or drop before 9 a.m. 2 business days before the interview. ● If you cancel after winning a bid slot, you will not get points back ● You cannot change your bid after the initial bid deadline has passed

54 Bid wait list If you were not a winning bidder, you go onto the bid wait list in case winners cancel; your bid points are held in reserve If bid winners drop, you will be automatically scheduled You can withdraw from wait list at any time and free your points for use on another schedule If you are NOT scheduled from the bid wait list, your points will be refunded to your account on the day of the interview.

60 Swap requests show up on homepage

61 Accept or decline a swap request on detail page Be kind to your colleagues – Swap if you can!

62 Interview Structure Typically 30 or 45 minutes long Some companies schedule back-to-back or rotational interviews – two consecutive interviews with the same company Don’t leave after the first half!! Academics take precedence over recruiting – don’t miss classes! Changes can be made to the schedule up until 9 AM two business days prior to the interview Drop the interview Swap time slots with another candidate through COIN If you cannot find someone to swap timeslots with you, come to the CMC for help. We will work with the company to try to find a solution. If you simply don’t show up due to a time conflict, you will be considered a no- show and penalized You may need to make tough choices.

Daily Open Sign-up (the no invite, no bid way to get an interview) After each On-Campus Interview schedule has been finalized (2 days before the interview), if the schedule has empty interview slots, we ask the companies if they want to participate in Daily Open. If they agree, by 5 p.m. the day before the interview, we will post those time slots on COIN so students can participate.

66 Daily Open Sign Up On the Daily Open page, you will see what interview slots are available. Click “Participate” for the interview slots you are interested in. Please Note: ● Winners must meet work authorization requirements of position ● No student can win two spots on same schedule ● No student can win two spots at the same time ● You will not be able to swap or cancel if you are scheduled – so only apply for times that you can attend ● No show penalties apply. ● Come to school early if necessary to await results for same-day interviews (ex: 8:30 AM start time)

67 Find available interview slots by clicking the “Daily Open” link on homepage You can sign up for multiple slots for the same interview time – You can only win one per schedule

68 Daily Open Sign Up After clicking “Participate” for a specific interview slot, select a resume that the interviewers will receive if you win the slot.

69 Daily Open Sign Up ● You will have until 7:45am the morning of the interview to opt in to participating. We will process the Daily Open sign ups by 8am that morning. ● If you win an interview slot, you will immediately receive an email notifying you, and it will appear on your COIN home page as a regular interview. ● You will not be able to swap or cancel if you are scheduled – so only apply for times that you can attend. No show penalties apply. ● Please note: Recruiters have the option on the day of the interview to cancel the Daily Open slots. The Career Management Center will let you know of this as soon as possible.

Recruiting Practices and Policies

71 Second Rounds ● Second rounds do not take place on campus – Career Management does not schedule them, but come to us if you are having problems ● Second round interviews cannot take place before 5:30 PM on Friday, October 17th; firms may contact you at any time after first round interview to schedule your second round ● Don’t cancel first rounds for second rounds ● Second round interviewers must offer at least one alternate date ● You may have to make tough choices

72 If You Must Cancel a First Round Interview ● Schedules are finalized and sent to companies 9:00 AM two business days before the interview ● You may cancel online up until this time ● If you must cancel after this time, you must contact the recruiter directly and call the Career Management main number (212-854- 5471) ● Canceling after this point incurs no-show penalties and jeopardizes your reputation and that of the school ● Do not interview if you have accepted an offer

73 No Show Penalties ● Cancellation after 9:00 AM two business days before the interview is considered a no show unless you have a legitimate emergency ● 850 bid points assessed as penalty for second-year students ● Must write a letter of apology to the company, and cc: Assistant Dean and Managing Director of Career Management, Regina Resnick, and Directors Michael Malone and Bruce Lloyd ● Two no-shows disqualifies you from participating further in on- campus recruiting

74 Beyond the Interview: Offers ● Companies cannot make offers before 5:30 PM Eastern on Tuesday, October 21 ● Offers made during recruiting must be held open until December 31 or for 4 weeks, whichever is later ● Hold no more than 3 offers – if you receive a 4 th, release at least one within 2 business days ● Acceptance = verbal or written confirmation that you will work for the company ● Communicate professionally with firms at all times – return phone calls and e-mails promptly, represent your intentions honestly

75 Beyond the Interview: Accepting Offers ● If you are facing undue pressure to accept an offer before the deadline, contact the CMC ● Once you accept an offer, you must cancel all future interviews ● If canceling interviews because you’ve accepted another offer, let the recruiter and the CMC know as soon as possible ● When you turn down other offers/cancel interviews it is vital to do this live, so you can maintain relationships moving forward –Not in email or on a voicemail –Be gracious and polite –You may need to call on these people in the future

76 Background & Drug Checks ● Be prepared for background and drug use checks before you begin working ● Will verify employment, education, credit and criminal history; may request transcripts; may request fingerprinting ● Those hired by securities firms are subject to additional scrutiny (SEC, NASD) ● Bring up any issues pre-emptively (after the offer)

77 Reneging on an Offer ● Reneging is a breach of ethics and the student honor code ● Results in going through Dean’s Disciplinary Procedure ● Seriously damages your reputation and prospects ● Recruiter Guidelines also exist. Problems? Alert us!
