2 ICT services for students › MyUni is the University’s student portal and your official information hub. Access with UniKey: details included in enrolment pack. sydney.edu.au/myuni › MyUni provides access to University services, including - Sydney Mail student email - Pre-enrolment and enrolment variations - Library - Online learning services (WebCT, Blackboard, notes) - Timetables - Exam seating and results - Accommodation search and other student services

3 ICT Resources Conditions of Use › You are bound by the ICT Resources Policy › It defines your responsibilities and obligations › Must be accepted to access services through UniKey › Example: mp3 and video files - It is illegal to download, store, reproduce or distribute video and music for which you do not own the copyright

4 Network, Internet and Support Free Services: see ICT Switch › University's websites › online services › email account › free web browsing › Network Access › Access and Faculty Labs › Wireless networking (including iPhone) › Home broadband using VPN (Virtual Private Network) › Dial-up (using the University as a low-cost ISP) ICT Helpdesk - available to all students › By phone: +61 2 9351 6000 (Extension 16000) 8 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday › Support also available by email, in some Access Labs, and from some faculties/schools 9351 6000 http://sydney.edu.au/ict/switch

5 eResearch › eResearch is the application of advanced information and communication technologies to the practice of research. › Includes: data management, online collaboration and high-performance computing. › First and foremost: if you have electronic research data, make sure it is backed up, with at least two copies kept separately! › For further information on eResearch: www.sydney.edu.au/eResearch
