IT Student Survey 2009 Your name here

Overview Over 1,400 responses were received. Students across all faculties, nationalities and years were represented. First year undergraduates, with 376 respondents, were the largest group. Just under 55% of participants were female students. Groups not well represented in the survey are part-time students and adult education students, 66 and 6 respectively.

The purpose of the questionnaire Questions mirrored the 2007 survey to assess any significant change in habits or needs of students. Importance and satisfaction ratings of key services. Analysing access to IT Free form questions to identify problems and demands for new and improved services.

Executive Summary Similar response to the 2007 survey in terms of importance and satisfaction – key demands Growing demand for access from anywhere Greater demand for more storage capacity – emails and documents

Satisfaction and Importance Over 80% of students expressed that they were satisfied or better with all 12 services listed. 11 out of the 12 services saw 50% of students rate that service as excellent or good. ResNet is the most highly rated service followed by Laptop Clinics, Portal, Email, Help Desk & Electronic Library Resources. As with the 2007 survey we see the dominance of what some would consider ‘traditional’ services. Email ranked as the most important service with 90% of respondents. This was followed by ResNet, Public Computers, Printing and Electronic Library Resources.
