2. 1 Marks of the church- the four essential features of the Church One- Jesus unites us through his death and Resurrection Holy Spirit guides us Pope and bishops lead us as one church Sacraments unite us Ecumenism- the work to promote unity among all Christians Holy belonging to God Holiness- sharing in God’s goodness and responding to his love by the way we live: our holiness comes through grace Jesus and the saints are models of holiness– heroic virtue, stood up for faith, preached, prayed and lived holy lives. Canonization- being declared saints All Saints Day- Nov 1 remember saints All Soul’s Day- Nov 2 remember those who have died

3. 2 Catholic-”universal” – open to all Mission- share the good news with all Different languages, customs and traditions Meet spiritual needs and physical needs of those they serve. Respect all faiths Apostolic- based on the faith of the apostles Pope and bishops – successors of the apostles lead and guide today’s church Laity- baptized members of church who are also called to share good news with people they encounter
