He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” The apostles would minister to the people, lead them in worship, baptize, heal, and forgive in his name. The apostles chose leaders to help in the community. These leaders were called bishops and did the work of the Apostles. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the bishops continued the work of the Apostles.

They are sealed with a sacramental character forever. They can only receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders once.
