2 Buddhism Must follow the Eightfold Path to understand the Four Noble Truths Eightfold Path - Right views, Right aspirations, Right speech, Right conduct, Right livelihood, Right effort, Right mindfulness, Right contemplation Four Noble Truths – All life is full of suffering, pain, and sorrow Cause of suffering is desire The cure for suffering is to overcome desire To overcome desire is to follow the Eightfold Path Two schools Theravada (strict) & Mahayana (easy)

3 Shared Beliefs Reincarnation – rebirth of the soul Karma – present life reflects past life Dharma – religious and moral duties Ahimsa – Nonviolence Moksha – Unity Grew out of the Vedic Age
