3 Brahman  Unchanging spiritual force that guides everything else in this world.  Brahma- The creator  Vishnu- The sustainer  Shiva- The destroyer

4 Vedas  Sacred text of Hindus  Upanishads-Examines important life questions  Bhagavad-Gita

5 Atman and Moksha  The essential self or spirit is an individuals Atman  The goal for your spirit is to reach Moksha or union with Brahman

6 Reincarnation and Karma  The idea of reincarnation is that you will be reborn.  Karma is the idea that how you live in this life you, will be how your rewarded for the next.

7 The Caste System

8 Siddhartha Gautama  Grew up part of the Brahman class.  Did not see suffering until he was in his early thirties.  Decide to seek out a better form of existence  Break the cycle of pain

9 Four Noble Truths  All life is full of suffering and pain  The cause of suffering is nonvirture  The only cure for suffering is to overcome nonvirtue  The way to over come nonvirtue is to follow the eightfold path.

10 Eightfold path  Right:  Views  Aspirations  Speech  Conduct  Livelihood  Effort  Mindfulness  Contemplation
