5 Rolls-Royce proprietary information …well maybe one

6 Rolls-Royce proprietary information  A Trent engine has around 30,000 individual components  Trent 1000 112” fan spins at around 2700 rpm with tip speeds of over 900 mph, faster than the speed of sound  At take-off, the A380’s four Trent 900’s can deliver thrust of 280,000 lbf, equivalent to the power of about 1900 cars  The force on a fan blade at take-off is equivalent to a load of almost 1000 tonnes, the same as a freight train hanging off each blade  The highest temperature inside the engine is nearly half as hot as the surface of the sun  A Trent 900 engine would suck all the air out of a racket ball court in less than one second Trent Engine Family Facts

7 Rolls-Royce proprietary information  Each Trent engine takes in around 2,500lb of air every second, or 70 tonnes of air per minute, equivalent to 160,000 people breathing out at the same time  Rolls-Royce engines fly one million miles every hour worldwide, powering six million flights a year  At any one time, 200,000 people are flying in aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce and this can double at peak times  Over 13,000 engines are currently in service with 650 airlines, freight operators and lessors and 4,000 corporate operators  A Rolls-Royce powered aircraft takes off or lands every 2.5 seconds and the Trent engine family has accumulated more than 40 million hours of service Trent Engine Family Facts
