<For Students> APU System Orientation ーLearning Management System of APU- (Before presentation starts) In today’s guidance, there are several situations which require you to use systems with your own electronic devices. Therefore, please prepare the “notice of APU-net user account” distributed on “document distribution guidance” and set up your APU Wifi. (When presentation starts) From now on, I would like to start today’s guidance about learning management system of APU.

2 Learning Management System of APU
As a tool to support your learning, manaba and respon are currently used at APU. Through using the internet, you can have access anytime, anywhere from your computer, tablet and smartphone. In today’s presentation, I am hoping to explain when to use these two systems after your enrollment in APU. Let’s start with explaining manaba first.

3 When to use ① Check and download course materials
② Submit your assignments ③ Take tests ④ Do group work ⑤ Check your grades of tests and assignments In manaba, you can check and download course materials, and submit your assignments. Also you can take tests and do group work. Finally, you can check your grades of tests and assignments.

4 First, let’s log in This Paper!!!
You can google “APU manaba” to open up the “login screen”. You can also access by clicking the “Academic” button on Campus terminal and “manaba login” button. When you input your ID and Password, same as Campus Terminal and Outlook, please refer to this paper “NOTICE of APU-Net USER ACCOUNT” distributed on Document Distribution guidance. Outlook ( ID @apu.ac.jp), Campus terminal and Manaba use the same ID and password

5 View your enrolled courses
・Not all professors use manaba. ・After the course registration period, instructors will register students as course members. If students can not see their courses, they need to contact their professors directly. ・Even if students drop courses during Correction Periods, courses might not be deleted from the students’ manaba. As long as students drop courses successfully, this doesn`t have any impact on your credits and grades. ・You can check the latest information about courses from the icons shown next to the course name. (If you have not checked or have due work, the icon will turn red) After your login to manaba, you can check your enrolled courses through “My courses”. Courses shown on students` screen can be different per student. Based on your course registration, instructors will register you as a course member. However please keep in mind that Not all professors use manaba. Also, if you can not see your courses, although instructors use manaba in the class, you should contact the professors directly. On the other hand, courses might not be deleted from the students’ manaba although you drop courses during Correction Periods. As long as you drop courses successfully, this doesn`t have any impact on your credits and grades. Finally, You can check the latest information about courses from the icons shown below the course name. If you have not checked or have due work, the icon will turn red.

6 Proceed to your enrolled courses
・Check and download     course materials ・ Submit your assignments ・ Take tests ・ Do group work Then let`s proceed to your enrolled courses! In your courses, you can check and download course materials through the “Resources” function and submit your reports through the “Assignments” function. Also, there are “Tests” function to be used while taking mid-term and final exam, and “Projects” function to be used when working on group projects. ・ Check your grades of tests and assignments

・ Click titles of pages that you want to check Titles of pages ・ Download attached course materials ・ Leave memos only visible to you The “Resources” function allows you to click titles of pages where you want to check and download attached course materials. Also, here you can leave memos only visible to yourself and submitting questions to instructors. ・ Submit questions to instructors

8 ② Submit your assignments
・ There are two ways to submit your assignments on manaba (Ways of submission are decided by instructors, not students) . Browser-based assignments An assignment submitted by entering text into manaba. File-based assignments An assignment submitted as a file such as a Word document. There are two ways to submit your assignments on manaba. The first way is to input text on manaba directly and submit it. The second way is to submit attached files such as word documents. Ways of submission are determined by instructors, not students.

9 ③ Take tests ・ There are three types of tests on manaba
(types of tests are decided by instructors, not students) . Autoscore test Answers will be scored automatically after submission. Manual score test Answers to this test will be scored by your instructors manually after submission. Exercise This is a type of test which you may repeatedly answer in order to practice. There are three types of tests on manaba. Depending on the purpose of use, such as quizzes during classes, tests for review, mid-term and final exam, the types of tests can be different. Same as “assignments” function, types of tests are decided by instructors, not students. There are three types of tests on manaba. Autoscore test is scored automatically after submission. Manual score test is scored by your instructor manually after submission. Exercise which is often called as “Drill” is a type of test which you may repeatedly answer in order to practice.

10 ④ Do group work ・ Read project description ・ Check your team members
・ Discuss with your team members The “Projects” function is used when you do your group work such as presentation assignment. You can check project description by your professor from here. Also, you can check your team members and discuss with them. Finally you can submit your project output through this button. ・ Submit your project

11 ④ Do group work Submit a project as a team
・ There are two ways to submit your projects (ways of submission are decided by instructors, not students) . Submit a project as a team After students’ group work, one team member out of the group will submit the assignment. The submitted project can be viewed by all team members. Submit a project individually After students’ group work, each team member will submit their own files. The submitted project can be only viewed by the person who submitted it. About submitting your project output, there are two ways such as “submit a project as a team” and “Submit a project individually” Ways of submission are made by instructors, not students. Therefore please read over project description carefully.

12 ⑤ Check your grades of tests and assignments
・ Check answers and explanation ・ Check comments from instructors You can check your grades for tests and assignments through the “Grades” function. Also, you can view answers, explanations and even comments from instructors here. Finally, by checking your grade details and comparing yourself with other students, you can figure out your current level. ・ Check your grade details

13 ⑤ Check your grades of tests and assignments
・Instructors make decisions whether they disclose your grades of tests and assignments on manaba or not. ・You are able to check your grades and credit completion status at the end of each semester through Campusmate Although you take tests and submit assignments, you might not be able to check your grades if the instructor choose not to publish them. Also, you are able to check your grades and credit completion status through Campusmate.

14 When to use ① Submit attendance cards ② Answer quizzes during classes
③ Take part in surveys during classes ④ Input remarks and questions after classes This is all about manaba. Moving on to the next part, I would like to explain respon. Respon offers you the ability to submit attendance cards online and answer quizzes during classes. You can also take part in surveys during classes and, input remarks and questions after classes.

15 How to Install “respon”
Let’s move on and explain how to install “respon”. Please use your smartphone or tablet and follow my instructions from now. iPhone or iPod users can download on the App Store and Android users can get it on Google play. Please just type “respon” in your search box and push the download button. In the case you have no smartphone or tablet, you can use the “respon” by logging into manaba with your PC. There is no initial setting required for PC. Also, please note that “respon” is currently only available in the Japan region of App store and Google play. Therefore only Japanese account is available to download it. For Your Information Way to use respon without Setting up App ① Open up manaba main page with the Web Browser and log in ② Push the “respon” button on “My page”

17 Set-up Procedure

18 If you did download the app, please operate it and push the toothed wheel, the “Setting” button on the right bottom. CLICK

19 APU Address Then, a mail setting screen will be shown. Please input your APU address here. If you don’t know your APU address, please check your ID from the paper, “Notice of user account” and After that, please push “Register” button.

20 Your registration number will be delivered to you APU Email(Outlook).
As soon as you push register button, you will receive a registration mail on your APU (Out look).

21 480350 To complete registration, please enter the confirmation number in the app and push “next” button

22 When Server setting is shown please push “Set up a server ID” on the first line.

23 manaba.apu.ac.jp Please enter “manaba.apu.ac.jp” and put the “Next” button

24 Your APU Account & Password ↓ Log-In
When manaba screen is shown please input your apu account and password to log-In.

25 Finally, push the ok button to complete the registration.

26 Please confirm whether this part successfully changes to “APU.”

27 Let`s submit your attendance card
Smartphone users Laptop users For students who complete initial setting, I would like you to submit the attendance card from now. Please launch respon first.

28 *For smartphone users, please don’t forget to press “Submit”.
Laptop users Please input numbers written on the black board and push the “Go” button. For smartphone users, please don’t forget to press “Submit”. *For smartphone users, please don’t forget to press “Submit”.

29 You can also use when ① Answer quizzes during classes ② Take part in surveys during classes ③ Input remarks and questions after classes Beside submitting attendance card that I asked you to do today, there are various situations when you use respon. In case of “Answer quizzes during classes”, some of professors tend to give bonus points for students who answered. Therefore, please actively participate. Also, if you take part in surveys during classes, you might be able to check results of answers as a pie chart by the operation of instructor. Finally about remarks and question after classes, some of professors tend to check your answers and give comments during the next class.
