NetBackup offers two software options for encryption – one that encrypts at the client called the Client Encryption Option (CEO), and one that encrypts at the media server (new) that is called Media Server Encryption Option (MSEO). Both CEO and MSEO are integrated into the NetBackup policy and does not require a dedicated hardware device or significant changes to the backup process. MSEO is a new addition and encrypts at the media server as opposed to the client, and includes selectable compression and encryption and “set it and forget it” key management.
Because NetBackup provides heterogeneous hardware support, we also qualify encrypted tape drives and inline hardware devices to provide our customers with a wide array of options to best address their encryption requirements.
