Required to follow the same traffic laws High percentage of accidents are with younger individuals Passing a bicycle the driver should be in the left lane like passing a car

3 School Bus Makes frequent stops-- Be prepared to stop
If “flashing yellow”, Bus is about to stop. Drivers need to reduce speed to 20 mph and do not attempt to pass. “Flashing Red”– Bus is stopped to load/unload kids. Traffic approaching or behind is required to stop and may not go until the lights are off and the stop arm is retracted.

4 City Buses Divers are not required to stop for a city bus loading/unloading. Should reduce your speed Be prepared to stop since buses make frequent stops If bus is on the corner loading/unloading it is illegal to go around the bus and turn right

5 Trucks Make wide turns Large blind spots
Avoid passing when going down hills Longer stopping distance

6 Emergency Vehicles All drivers must yield the right of way
Pulling to the right and stopping until the emergency vehicle passes you regardless of what direction the driver is traveling Exception- 4 lane road that is divided by a median. Driver is not required to stop

7 Motorcycles Popular today because Inexpensive Economical
Easier to maneuver in tight spaces

8 Problems with Motorcycles
Less Stable on wet roads, gravel, sand, and other slick surfaces. Little protection for the rider Smaller size makes it harder to see Hides behind blind spots

9 Mixing with Motorcycles
Signals do not cancel automatically Driver must make head checks before changing lanes When passing a motorcycle the driver must make a full lane change
