4 Homework Rule 1: Kids only Rule 2: Assignments completed daily
Rule 3: Pencil for printing and crayons for pictures Formatting: Spacing Correct formation Modeling Consistency Must Be Returned Daily!

5 Plastic Folder Forms/ school paper work can be placed in the plastic folder. Please do not place any written notes to your child’s classroom teacher as they will get lost. is the primary form of communication. Printing Homework Duotang and Pocket Folder is to be placed in the Plastic Folder and returned daily. Please your child’s classroom teacher if you have questions. We will do our best to respond within 24 hours. Must Be Returned Daily!

6 Entering/Leaving the School
Morning students will go past the playground and portables and come in through the compound doors by the gym. Afternoon students always come in through the front doors. Morning students who take the school bus home will be brought to their bus by the classroom assistant. Morning students who are picked up will be brought to the front doors of the school by the classroom teacher. Afternoon students who take the school bus home will be assigned a bus buddy to pick them up at the end of the day. 7 How to access and navigate Weebly.
Homework assignments will printed for the first month of school. Parents will be required to log into weebly and print off the homework assignment and any additional worksheets starting the first week of October. Please try and print items back to back.

9 What is a Grapheme A grapheme is a letter or a combination of letters
Each grapheme can represent more than one sound Each sound can be represented by more than one grapheme One grapheme will be taught each week How graphemes are printed is important- continuous line

10 Proper Formation of the Letters
c, a, o, d, g, qu – 2 o`clock letters i, r, n, m, j, p, u – dotted-middle line letters l, h, b, k, t, f – top base line letters v, w, x, y – diagonal letters e, s, z – rogue letters An example of how to properly form each letter will be posted on Weebly.

11 Grapheme Sounds f, l, m, n, r, s, v, x and z are continuous sounds
All other letter sounds are non-continuous

12 Homework Experience Should look like: a clean, comfortable, quiet and organized space with learning materials readily available (ie. pencil, eraser, crayons, etc.) Should sound like: discussion of letter formations and sounds, encouraging words Should feel like: A special sharing time for both you and your child

13 Homework Description Example
Monday, October 8th: a. Trace one line of ‘a.’ b. Print one line of ‘a.’ Say the ‘a’ sounds as they print it. Tuesday, October 9th: Draw and color a picture (using crayons) of something that starts with the letter ‘a.’

Wednesday, October 10th: a. Trace one line of ‘uppercase A.’ b. Print one line of ‘uppercase A.’ Say the ‘A’ sounds as they print it. Thursday, October 11th: Draw and color a picture (using crayons) of something else that starts with the letter ‘A.’ If the letter has more than one sound make a picture that uses the other sound.

16 Additional Information
Black dress shoes that are labeled and can be polished. These are for indoor use only at school. They must be kept at school. Gym Shoes must be clean, running shoes with a good non-marking sole for indoor use only. At the Teacher’s discretion you may be asked to replace them if we feel that they don’t fit or are unsafe for your child. Reminder to send snacks in a sealed re-usable lunch kit. A large zip lock bag needs to be sent for all scraps, uneaten food and garbage. This bag will be sent home in your child’s lunch kit so that the items can be recycled/ composted at home. Reminder that snack is only 10 minutes so please do not send full lunches to school. All school items MUST be labelled. This includes sweaters, vests, outside jackets, shoes, backpacks, lunch kits, water bottles etc.
