2 Vocabulary Border State – A state that did not choose sides during the Civil War. Anti-Slavery – Against slavery Pro-Slavery – For slavery Mason-Dixon Line – Imaginary line that separates the North from the south. Secession – The right of a state to leave a union if the state has voted to do so.
