Did you know that independent tutors often charge more than $50 an hour for their services? As a student at SCTC, you are eligible for high-quality tutoring and mentoring services free of charge. Our tutoring and mentoring department is here to serve you in multiple ways. You can schedule face-to-face appointments with one of our English, reading, or math subject matter experts twice per week. You can also access online tutoring from within your Blackboard course for certain subjects outside of normal operating hours. Additionally, we train students to serve as peer mentors within our centers, which means you have the option to connect with someone much like you who just happens to be a little further along his or her academic journey. Peer mentoring allows us to provide academic support in a broad range of subjects. Please keep in mind that tutoring and mentoring are not just for students who are struggling in a particular class. We can assist you with developing general study and organizational skills, memorization strategies, testing techniques, and more.

Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and successfully complete at least 67% of all courses attempted and must not exceed 150% of the required semester hours for the program. •Students should be aware that the number of hours that the HOPE Grant and the HOPE Scholarship will pay is limited, Students not receiving other aid will be responsible for paying the remaining balance each term.
