8 What do I need to know about HOPE?
The HOPE Lottery Scholarship has very specific requirements, and these requirements differ based upon when you first received the scholarship. Be sure that you read and understand your HOPE Terms posted to your Eagle Online account (

9 What types of loans are there?
Subsidized Loans Need-based Government will pay interest while you are in school Unsubsidized Loans Not need-based Accumulates interest that the student is responsible for paying while in school

10 What is Federal Work Study?
Need-based program that you apply for through the FAFSA ( Free Application for Student Aid). If you are eligible for a work study, you will be assigned an on-campus job where you will work hourly for a monthly paycheck.

11 Outside Scholarships Outside scholarships (private, non-TTU affiliated scholarships) are processed by the Office of Financial Aid. Send us your notification letter & check along with your full name and T#.

12 Coming to college means becoming a student
Coming to college means becoming a student. Changing your student status and/or failing to attend class can have serious consequences on your financial aid. It can cause you to owe money back for a semester, or cause your to lose your scholarships like HOPE Lottery forever.

Apply for Tech scholarships online through ScholarWeb at The priority deadline to apply for Tech scholarships each year is December 1st. Each year, Tech offers more than 600 different scholarships to 2,000+ students totaling $8 million!

17 University Academic Service Scholarship:
The University Academic Service Scholarship (UAS) is awarded to students who completed the ScholarWeb application and is based on merit (ACT and GPA combination). Student receiving a service scholarship must complete a specific number of service hours each semester in order to maintain the scholarship. Questions? Contact the Office of Scholarships

Federal Work Study and scholarship service contracts will be available August 25th. Please continue to monitor your TTU s for notification of a time & place for pickup.

22 What is FERPA? FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) prevents TTU offices from sharing information with anyone other than the student. If you wish for a relative, friend, or guardian to have access to your information, you must complete an Information Authorization Release Form in Eagle Online available at
