Keyword: Weapon of Mass Destruction Weapons that can kill large numbers of people and/or cause great damage. Keyword: Chemical Weapons Weapons that use chemical weapons to poison, burn or paralyse humans an destroy the natural environment Keyword: Biological Weapons Weapons that have living organisms or ineffective material that can lead to disease or death Link back to the starter clip – what type of weapon of mass destruction is being used here? Ask students whether they already know about these types of weapons being used.

7 Delve a little deeper… Each table is going to be give one newspaper article on the use of weapons of mass destruction in warfare. Read through the account together then discuss the questions on your group talk sheet. They are going to look at three examples – Syria, Vietnam and the gas chambers in WW2.

8 Rainbow Groups Each person in your group is going to be given a different colour card, this will indicate the new group you will join Each person is responsible for telling their new group about the account they have read and summarising the discussion their group had

10 What do you think? You are going to be given a sheet with statements around the use of weapons of mass destruction. Firstly, you will need to decide whether you agree or disagree with the statement and briefly explain why. Secondly, you will need to move around the room and find one person who agrees with the statement and one person who disagrees – again you will need to briefly explain why.
