2 Always be on the lookout for a new friend
Varying abilities (social and academic) Level of support New colleagues Utilize resources Approximately 50% or more of students with disabilities spend at least 80% of their day in the general education classroom. There are many different teaching styles. Depending on the classroom that you are in, the teacher might not have the same teaching style, but that doesn’t mean you can’t work together and have a good relationship. Utilize your resources—reach out to other teachers in the building and from other disciplinaries. Even be willing to look outside of the building for different professionals who might have ideas. Beyond ”people” you can look for resources on the internet, blogs, in books, etc. Every student brings something unique to the classroom. Certain students might seem like they require a lot of work because of meetings and going the extra mile, but some of those students can bring forth the best learning opportunities. Give everyone a fair chance!
