1 Welcome Agenda Year 6 residential update.

2 Residential

3 20th – 24th May 2019 Change of venue Our trip has been upgraded but the cost is the same! Upper Bognor Road Bognor Regis PO21 1JJ

4 Personal and curriculum development
4 night stay away from home Develop independence and self-reliance. Develop a sense of responsibility. Experience of staying in a different environment Provide Outdoor Adventurous Activities linked to PE and transition from primary to secondary school. Child-led activities. Developing Learning Powers Resourcefulness, resilience, reciprocity, reflectiveness. Living with peers over extended periods. Team work. Awareness of the needs of others. Cooperation and collaboration. Celebration of their time at school together.

5 Timings Travelling by coach.
Drop off at school between (ready to leave at 10.45am). Back at school before home time on the Friday (TBC but by 2.30pm).

6 Accommodation Jellyfish Grove to ourselves!

7 Sleeping arrangements
Children organised into single sex rooms of approx 2 – 6. Children will have an opportunity to express who they would like to share a room with. Langshott staff will allocate rooms with consideration of attitude, friendships and behaviour. We want all children to be successful. They will be in mixed groups during the day for their activities. Children will be expected to make their beds and keep their rooms tidy!

8 Activities Range of activities provided by qualified and experienced instructors. Other child led activities. All activities will be confirmed closer to the time.

9 Possible activities Detailed tours and safety briefings.
Magic workshop. Archery, ninebots, football. Circus school. Silent cinema. Drum workshop. Ninebots = mini segways.

10 Possible activities Beach trip. Cricket. Field games.
Swimming (just us – refurbished pool). High ropes, climbing wall, zip wire, golf. Bowling. Disco. Go karting. Shop!

11 Activities I met with your children to make it THEIR residential! These activities will be after 8pm.

12 Food All needs catered for. Cooked/cold breakfast.
General buffet for lunch and dinner. The children can take sweets.

13 Things to pack Kit list will be provided.
Clothes suitable for outdoors/being active. Name on everything. Swimming. Disco.

14 Cost £338. Plus some spending money (£10).
This is just a suggestion (apart from when the deposit amount is due and the final amount is due). This was all in the letter. Spend £10.

15 Meeting individual needs
Support with medication etc given. Timetable given out so that the children know the routine (also shared with families – pack). Fire briefing given.

16 Safety Met with the head of security. Individual wrist bands.
Security patrols in Jellyfish Grove. Camera and radio security. First aiders.

17 What happens next Letters coming home tomorrow confirming the upgrade.
Balance to be paid by March 2019. Spring term 2019 – medical form, kit list and final pack issued to parents. Postcard letter. Attend the final meeting on 20th March at 6.30pm. This will cover the trip information and SATs.

18 Questions Staffing – the full list is not known (Miss Booker, Mr Smallman and Miss Jordan). Alternative activities for those who stay behind – depends on how many. Potential to join us on the trip for a day. You can talk to me at any time if you have any questions.
