The caste determined where the person belonged in their society
Over time, castes either gained or lost favor as members gained wealth and power
Rules:
People from different castes could not marry
They could not eat with one another
IF RULES WERE BROKEN, THEY WOULD BE BANNED FROM THEIR CASTES.

4. The Varnas The Varnas are a set of social classes.
They are the social pyramid of India.
Brahmans are on top, they are priest.
Kshatriyas are next they are warriors and rulers.
Then Vaisyas, farmers, craftspeople, and traders.
Finally Sundras, workers and servants.

5. The Sundras The Sundras were the lowest class of Varna.
They were workers and servants.
They worked for the upper class.
They belonged to the lowest caste.

7. Brahmanism
Religion had been an important part of Aryan life even before the Aryans moved to India.
Eventually, in India, religion took on even more meaning.
Because Aryan priests were called Brahmins their religion is often called Brahmanism.
The OM is the universally accepted and supreme symbol of Hinduism. It has also been adopted by the other three main religions of India

8. Women of Hindu Hindu Women were considered inferior to the men.
Both men and women were accessible to most of the same rights such as education and religion.
Hinduism taught that men as well as women could gain salvation.
Hindu women were not allowed to read the Vedas or any other sacred text written.
